Ekiden Run 2008

JooAnn, PeiYen, AiSin, Nancy and Janelle

There was once a girl who wanted to run
Not for glory, trophy but for fun;
Speedwork, fartlek, what is that?!
As if she would want to break a sweat.

Then came the day of the relay run
Away she went after firing of the gun;
Oh how she tried not to be too slow
Working hard amongst the human flow;

"Here's the sash, quick! Make a dash
Now is not the time to crash;
Yes! here comes the finish line
Let's hope everything will turn out fine."

Podium appearance, who would have thought
Medal, trophy was what she got;
Remember the girl who ran for fun?
What a day she had under the sun.

It's finally here. SAC, and it's working partner would like to present this 120km Round Island Cycling Challenge. A ride for those looking to challenge themselves, the route will take approximately 12 hours to complete.
A good level of fitness is required in order for you to enjoy, so riders are encouraged to sign-up for the build-up rides in June and July in preparation for this. The route has been planned such that you will be able to complete the sections comfortably.
SECTION 1: Pasir Ris Park ? ECP National Sailing Centre (16km)> Via Pasir Ris Park Connector ? Loyang Park Connector ? Coastal Park > Connector > SECTION 2: ECP NSC ? Kallang Mac (12km)> Via East Coast Park ? Fort Road> SECTION 3: Kallang Mac ? West Coast Mac (18km)> Via Nicoll Highway ? Shenton Way ? Keppel Road ? Telok Blangah Road ? West > Coast Highway> SECTION 4: West Coast Mac ? Lim Chu Kang (16km)> Via West Coast Parkway ? Jalan Buroh ? Jurong Pier Road ? Jalan Bahar ? > Lim Chu Kang> SECTION 5: Lim Chu Kang ? Pasir Ris Park (18km)> Via Upp Serangoon Road ? Hougang Ave 7 ? Tampines Road ? Pasir Ris Dr 3>>

There will be a break at the end of each section, ie. 7 breaks in all. This will be a fully supported ride with escort vehicles and some snacks and drinks to sustain you along the way. There will be trained first-aiders, and mechanics available in case of minor incidents.
Don't have a bike?? Not to worry, we can arrange bike rental ($15/bike) for you, which will include your safety helmet.
Come on, and take on the challenge!!!
