Mt KInabalu - Charity Hike



Come April and May , every weekend will be training and hiking to Mt Kinabalu

Total pax for the 3 groups is 108 paxs and grateful that all the hikers have contributed RM50 for Don Bosco's Children Homes which currently having 90 children staying there

Mt Kinabalu 2014



Next month will be Mt Kinabalu month for me..as 2 times to Mt Kinanablu in 10 days

April 19 - 22 and April 28 - May 1

Number of  hikers include May group = 105

It a charity climb and many thanks to those joining me for the hike.  Proceeds will be channel to Don Bosco's Children's home at Bundu Tuhan.

Thanks also to Oracle Company for their contributions.

This weekend Sunday, training will be at Batu Caves 7am as Saturday,  will be in Kuala Kangsar to check on the route for the Sultan Azlan Shah Kuala Kangsar run where Pacesetters us the organizer

Next Saturday will be at Apek / Saga Hills

Bkt Repin Janda Baik


If you keen to hike Bukit Repin  (Janda Baik)on Sunday . My hiking friend Mr.Chong Yin Fook will lead and will brief the hike .



Below are the details

Duration of Hike Bukit Repin  : 6 – 7  hours ( Return)

1)  BHP Station after Gombak Toll to Karak , meet at 6:45am or


Transport Arrangement :  Own
Our Hiking Schedule :
6:45 a.m. - Meet at the BHP Petrol Station after Gombak Toll to Karak / Genting Highlands  - Please note  at 6:55am, will start to move from the BHP Petrol Station to Bukit Tinggi
7:15 a.m. - Meet at Bukit Tinggi
7:45 a.m. - Briefing on Hike
8:00 a.m. - Start Hike
You will cross 4 times across a stream than will see  a hut followed by trees and BIG Tree … after 1hr 30mins you will pass the last stream ( 5th time crossing ) before reaching the summit.
From here, the trail is very steep and all the way up to the peak

Thing to bring :

1) Bring drinking water (about 3L) and pack your own food
2) Wear suitable trekking shoes( not running shoes )
3) Raincoat & Headlamp (Compulsory)
5) Optional - Trekking stick, Camera and small towel
6) Extra change of clothes for after the hike
7) Insect repellents - optional
8) Personal medication / Plasters for cuts/blisters
8) Personal Belongings like Wallet, HP to be wrap in plastic bag in case rain.


Note : 

1) Please have your own breakfast before the hike
 2) Please be punctual (strive to come 10 minutes before stated time) 
3) Wear suitable clothes for a long hike.
4) If you want to play at the waterfall, please bring along a change of clothes.


Bukit Repin

·         Height : 4398 feets ( 1341 meters)
·         Location : Janda Baik (Pahang)
·         Usually it takes 2 1/2 hour to 3 hours ascent
·         Distance : about 5.1 KM

TheTrek
The trail could defined into 3 difference stages.
Stage 1 -  First 30 minutes trail with a leisure walk through some farmland and cross a few small streams until you reach the Hut.
Stage 2  - with 30 minutes jungle trekking until the last stream. You will see a HUGE Tree
Stage 3 – Last part of the trail is very steep and it all the way up to the summit

Start from Cheras Awana to Station 1 - Station 2 - Station 3 & 3A - Station 5 - Station 6 -  After short break, we proceed to Saga Hilltop via trek D. Return back to Station 6 - Finish at Taman Cheras Awana Base.

Gunung Nuang on March 8, 2014



Gunung Nuang Ulu Langat 

Please bring more water for the hike , as it not been raining for the last 1 month and it will be humid unlike last time we hike.

I suggest 3L of water 

Those who know the park can go on your own and pay RM1 to the park ranger and start trekking 



Date of activity : March 8 2014 (Saturday)

Duration of Hike : 9-12 hours ( to peak ) 6 -7 ( Kem Pacat), 3 -4 ( Kem Lolo)


Difficulty Level : 8 out of 10 (10 being most difficult) if to peak

Emergency Contact :  Pejabat Hutan Daerah Selangor Tengah (03-90752885) and the ranger Encik Imram at 012-2767724.


Those who just want to do the logger trails up and down , also can as it good training  Distance 5km 1 way  


This is good training ground if you want to improve your endurance in walking and run 

Meeting Point :
1) Petronas Station at Jalan Cheras on the way to Kajang (opposite Phoenix Plaza) - 5.45am
2) Gunung Nuang Car Park at 6.30am
  (For those who know the venue, you may proceed directly there)

Direction :
Gunung Nuang Park,  is located 30km from Cheras, around 45mins by car.
It is easy to find the start of Gunung Nuang trail.
Exit the E7 Cheras Kajang Expressway when you see the sign for Pekan Hulu Langat. 
Take route B52 through Hulu Langat and keep going straight as far as you can. Just look at the KM stone (Ponsoon)
You will end up in Ponsoon ( U will see TNB Building on the left ) about 50 meters where the road forks. Keep left towards the Ponsoon Reservoir and Dam. 
When you reach the locked security gates of the reservoir compound, turn left into the Gunung Nuang Park. There is a car park here.
You have to register with the park ranger and pay RM1 per adult or RM0.50 per child.

5:45 AM - Arrive at Petronas at Jalan Cheras on the way to Kajang (opposite Phoenix Plaza) Location B in the map.
6:30 AM - Meet up at Gunung Nuang Park, Car Park and Briefing
7.00 AM - Begin trekking (about 4-6 hours) 

12:00 - 01:00 p.m. - Arrive at the Summit of Gunung Nuang and Lunch

01:30 p.m. – Descend to the Base (turnaround time is at 1:00pm)

05:00 – 07:00 p.m. – Reach the Base & wash up ( Estimated completion time)

Things to bring :

1) Bring drinking water (about 3 - 4L) and foods, energy bars. (9-12 hours hike)
2) Wear suitable shoes 
3) Food / Fruits - Pack your own breakfast & lunch
4) Raincoat, Headlamp/torch light (Compulsory)
5) Optional - Trekking stick, Camera, small towel, Garden Gloves
6) Extra clothes for changing after the climb
7) Insect repellents - optional
8) Personal medication / Plasters for cuts/blisters
9) Personal Belonging like Wallet, HP to be wrap in plastic bag in case rain.


Note : 
1) Please have your own breakfast before trekking or take your own breakfast
2) Please be punctual (strive to come 10 minutes before time) 
3) If anyone of you find yourselves getting into difficulties, turnaround time is at 1:00pm. 
Meaning, no matter where you are at 2:00pm, you MUST turn back and begin your descend to the starting point.
5) Wear suitable clothes for long hike.
7) For water supply, we need about 3-4 litres of water for the whole hike. So, you can either carry this entire amount.
Or you can refill your bottles at the water point if you brought water purification tablets.
9) Watch out for muddy trails after rain and take precautions against leeches. 


Our Hiking Trail in Gunung Nuang: -

1)       Car Park, Starting Point –  Gravel and Dirt Road about 5km  (45mins – 120 mins)
2)       From end of Gravel Track to Lolo Camp about 1km (30mins)
3)       From Lolo Camp to Pacat Camp about 4km (90mins to 150mins)
4)       From Pacat to Bukit Pengasih (false peak) about 1.5km (40mins to 80mins)
5)       From Bukit Pengasih to Gunung Nuang Peak about  1km (40mins to 60mins)
